Humphrey Heating and Air can provide homeowners with just the right amount of heating and cooling needed by installing a ductless heating and cooling system. Ductless split systems have been around for over 30 years and are being used widely throughout the world. These systems are energy efficient, environmentally friendly and completely customizable. Stay Cool. Stay Warm. Stay Comfortable. Go Ductless.
How Does A Ductless Split Work?
Your mini split (aka: ductless system) comes standard with air conditioning and heating, providing you with year-round, energy-efficient heating and cooling. Unlike traditional systems, ductless systems move the cold and warm air rather than create it. In the fall and winter months, the system transfers heat from outside your home to the indoors. Because refrigerant is naturally much cooler than outdoor temperatures, it actually absorbs the heat from outdoors, even on a -5° day! Come spring and summer, the process is reversed, transferring heat from inside your home to the outdoors.
With ductless systems, an outdoor unit is connected to 2 to 8 indoor units with a small bundle of cables, including a refrigerant line. The cables require only a three-inch hole in the wall for installation, eliminating the need for expensive and invasive duct work. The indoor units vary by size and style and each creates its own “zone” of comfort, allowing you to heat or cool individual rooms and open spaces. Once your ductless heat pump is installed, simply set each zone to your preferred temperature with the remote control!
$$$ One of the biggest reasons why homeowners switch to ductless cooling and heating is overall cost savings. First, more than 30% of energy consumption is caused by duct losses. Since mini-splits have no ducting, they omit those energy losses associated with central forced air systems. Second, since the ductless systems allow homeowners to create multiple zones in their home, they no longer have to cool or heat rooms that aren’t occupied. In addition to saving money on utilities, homeowners may also be eligible for tax credits or utility rebates for the year they install a ductless system. Humphrey Heating and Air can easily set up this highly efficient system as a new primary heat source in your electrically heated Utah homes, and aid you in finding the federal and state incentives available for your purchase.
Additional Benefits of a Ductless Split:
INCREASED COMFORT AND CONTROL
Is your basement constantly cold during the winter and hot during the summer? Are your household members changing the thermostat in your home in an attempt to reach a temperature more comfortable for themselves? You typically have only one thermostat that controls the temperature of your entire home with traditional HVAC systems. Since the ductless system is temperature controlled within each zone, you are able to eliminate the need to: compromise your comfort for the needs of other household members and overcompensate for the areas in your home untouched by your current HVAC systems.
Ductless systems do not require invasive duct work, allowing you to retain the original aesthetic of your home. Multi-split systems run on small pipes that require a mere three-inch hole, meaning homeowners don’t have to worry about rebuilding walls or ceilings around duct work. A ductless installation is hassle-free and can be completed by an HVAC certified technician in one day.
BREATHE CLEANER, HEALTHIER AIR
Air purifying filters are used in conjunction absorb dust, pollen, germs, mildew and odor-causing gases, so allergy sufferers in your family can breathe easy. Additionally, ductless systems don’t have ducts that collect dust and mold. With traditional HVAC systems, air ducts must be professionally cleaned on a regular basis. *See Duct Cleaning
Ductless cooling and heating systems are far more energy efficient than the minimum standards set forth by the U.S. federal government. This improved efficiency helps reduce your total carbon output and will have far less impact on the environment throughout the duration of its life cycle. Ductless systems also use a refrigerant that is popular for its zero ozone depletion potential.
