How Air Duct Cleaning Works
Humphrey Plumbing Heating and Air uses highly specialized duct cleaning equipment to remove these contaminants from your home. We have been servicing homes for air duct cleaning in Salt Lake City since 2006. First we prepare your home by setting down drop cloths to protect your floors. Then we cover the outside of each vent and cut access holes into the duct work near the furnace. Next we connect the Hypervac vacuum to these access points. When turned on this powerful vacuum spins at 3000 cfm and puts your duct work in state of negative pressure. Then we use compressed air tools such as air rods, whips, snakes, and blow guns. These tools blast through the vents at 200 psi and pushes the debris into the filtered Hypervac vacuum. We make at least three passes through each vent. Once the contaminates are removed from your duct work we patch and seal the access holes. In addition to the duct cleaning service, we offer complimentary duct sanitizing.
Why is sanitizing important?
Bacteria, mold, mildew and other biological growths can thrive in ductwork due to its cool, dark, moist environment. Professional duct cleaning can remove dust, debris, dander, mildew.
Humphrey Plumbing Heating and Air uses a fogger to apply the sanitization agent inside your duct work to eliminate germs and biological growth, and prevent the development of new growth. We use EnviroCon which will treat odor causing contaminants and destroy bacteria that lives in your duct work.
When should you have your air ducts cleaned?
If your vents and returns look dirty then they probably are. We recommend that homeowners consider cleaning air ducts if you become aware of an odd smell after turning on your air conditioner or furnace, if your ducts are infested with vermin, if you live in an area with excessive dust, or if your home has been recently remodeled. Those who suffer from asthma, respiratory issues, or have allergies to contaminants like dander from pets, pollen and pollution should also consider a professional duct cleaning, as these contaminants flow in and out whenever you open a door or window and circulate through the air you are breathing.
In addition to the health benefits provided by duct cleaning, a thorough duct cleaning service can also save you money. Clean air ducts help improve the airflow and performance of your heating and cooling system which can lower your monthly utility bill, extend the life of your equipment, and eliminate unnecessary repair bills caused by poor airflow. When your air ducts are clean, your system is able to circulate the air better, and use less energy in the process.
